Inflation uncertainty, macroeconomic instability and the efficiency of financial institutions

Purpose The study examines the effect of macroeconomic risk, inflation uncertainty and instability associated with key indicators on efficiency financial institutions among economies in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Design/methodology/approach Data for empirical inquiry were compiled from 35 SSA 1996 to 2019. estimates carried out using pooled ordinary least squares (POLS) Driscoll Kraay’s (1998) standard errors. Findings Reported show that risk exchange rate volatility constrain institutions. Further results suggest has a significant influence subregion. Additionally, reviewed institutional quality positively moderates nexus between institution efficiency. At same time, political is found worsen adverse Practical implications For policymakers governments, improved structures are recommended ensure operational institutions, especially during an inflationary period. decision-makers recommends policies have potential make their less vulnerable fluctuations. Originality/value approach adopted this differs significantly related studies reviews interactions relationships not readily literature.
